The following are the traffic points in Chittoor town

The Traffic Police Station, Chittoor is sanctioned vide G.O.Ms.No.538/Home (Police-D) Department, dated 12-09-1986 (D.O.No.918/86 dated 27.09.1986 of the Superintendent of Police, Chittoor) with the strength of 1 S.I., 3 ASIs., 4 HCs., and 20 PCs. The police station was started functioning from 01.04.1986.

The police station is upgraded vide G.O Ms.No.137 Home(PSC)Department dated 08.06.2010 with the strength of 1 Inspector of Police, 2 S.Is., 3 ASIs., 6 HCs., and 43 PCs making the Inspector of Police as the Station House Officer. Subsequently vide proceedings No. 555/G3/2014, Dt. 5-11-2014 of PEB by suppressed the post of Inspector of Police the Dy.S.P. Was posted to Traffic P.S. Chittoor. The present strength of the police station is one DSP, 1 SIs, 1 ASIs, 07 HCs, 29 PCs. Besides the above strength, 15 Home guards are also attached to the Traffic PS for discharging traffic duties.

During the year 2016 newly constructed DSP office and it was inaugurated by Sri J.V. Ramudu, Director General of Police Andhra Pradesh Hyderabad on 9-05-2016 and on the same day E-Challan system was launched and collect compounding fee from the defaulters through A.P. Online and Mee Seva centers.

The major portion of the men is divided into two sections i.e., ‘A’ Section and ‘B’ Section. They will work in four shifts as follows. ‘A’ Section will perform traffic duties from 6.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. and from 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. and ‘B’ Section from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. and from 6.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. Some strength will be deployed in important points in peak hours i.e., from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. in support of the regular men depending on the availability of the men. Apart from the above Five Task Force PCs will be deployed on motorcycles to move and clear the traffic at all vulnerable places in peak hours.
